new stuff, revisiting the ACEO world of miniature art. ended up hating the colors so I went all pyro and burned the bad coloring right off. unfortunately, things got a liiiittle out of control and ended up with a torched heart.

and that’s why we love glue sticks, with glitter.

…and the only real question left… why is Wilder Napalm not in my collection yet??

And I started making ACEO-type art again, this time something dark and twisty with one of those weird up-nose angles that makes people look pig-like. Inspiration?  Old auto-portrait photo, nostrils aflare. And my spellchecker just informed me that aflare isn’t a word… Looksee:

Once upon a while ago, Catherine sketched a portrait of her niece… and it didn’t turn out half bad all things considered.  I was able to capture her personality a bit, but she’s way prettier than this.  Oye.  I’m in desperate need of some major practice because the lack of drawing lately is showing through in a major way.

Something else that’s new here: Category – Obsessions -> Not really obsessions, just a new plugin to play with.  Basically feeding my Hype Machine listening history and what they call “obsessions” (most listened-to tracks) into that category with quotes from the original source.

I need new musics, there’s just never enough =(

power’s back but my computer situation hasn’t improved yet… lacking in motivation to crawl under my desk and hook up more USBs to the ancient but sturdy comp, which has just been connected to the net for the first time in an oh-so-very long time.

if motivation does strike, hopefully it’s to finish this painting or to maybe finally invest in one of those tablet laptops… then I can return tablets which are not mine and get on with the whole CG thing again.

Until then though, I bring my extremely low viewership one really blurry, badly-colored progress report on the bumpy cardboard lady:

Recently spent a fortune on new art supplies and did a bad, bad thing – painted, in bed. Hah;

More cardboard, filled this with marker-inkings and covered the girl in chalk pastels, which was a mistake… by more than you know. I hate chalk with a passion, why I decided to use them is way past me at this point. Rubbed those away and started smudging her face with wet acrylics.

Cardboard texture… sometimes it works, other times, it’s like riding along on those incredibly bumpy back roads. Thinking we’ll add in some cosmos, some mythological references… lots of astrological goodness with aliens and tractors and stuff~~ flash vs. yellowfied-non-flash:

Lighting’s pretty dark here but the contrasts make it work.

In other news: Someone requested another private commission with a jazz/blues theme. That makes 3 in the last 6 months so I have to ask- is this a fad or making a come back or what?

I love jazz, love the blues even more but… the timing between all 3 requests seems odd.

Guess all things come in waves.

Tonight I was domestic with the cleaning up and the making of roast beast in a big pot with po-ta-toes. The world is lonesome and… tender.
